FETSI Impact Hub Leads Generative AI Digital Skills Innovation in Limpopo

The official launch of the Generative AI Digital Skills Programme in Polokwane marked a significant milestone in advancing inclusive innovation and future-ready skills development across Limpopo, positioning FETSI Impact Hub at the forefront of Africa’s growing artificial intelligence ecosystem.

Bringing together government leadership, education partners, industry experts, and community stakeholders, the programme reflects a shared commitment to empowering youth, entrepreneurs, and working professionals with practical Generative AI capabilities aligned with economic growth and digital transformation priorities.

The initiative was delivered in collaboration with key provincial and institutional partners, including leadership representatives from the Office of the Premier Limpopo, Polokwane Municipality, Limpopo Connexion, WeThinkCode_, the Limpopo Department of Water and Sanitation, and Richfield Graduate Institute of Technology.

Government leaders present emphasized the importance of digital inclusion, ethical AI adoption, and the acceleration of Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) capabilities as key drivers of provincial competitiveness and service delivery innovation.

The programme highlighted critical themes shaping Africa’s digital future, including AI ethics, the future of work, cross-border talent development, economic participation through technology, and the role of connectivity infrastructure in enabling emerging digital economies.

As a community-focused innovation platform, FETSI Impact Hub continues to champion AI for Good by creating accessible pathways into data science, artificial intelligence, and digital entrepreneurship. Through skills training, ecosystem partnerships, and real-world innovation programmes, the Hub is supporting the development of locally grounded solutions to national challenges — from smart governance to inclusive economic participation.

Speaking on the significance of the launch, organisers noted that empowering communities with Generative AI skills is no longer optional but essential for ensuring Africa’s competitiveness in a rapidly evolving global economy.

The strong presence of provincial government leadership and strategic partners reflects a growing alignment between public institutions, academia, and industry to build sustainable digital talent pipelines within Limpopo.

FETSI Impact Hub extends its appreciation to all speakers, partners, and government stakeholders whose collaboration continues to drive innovation, opportunity, and inclusive digital transformation across the province.
